Appeals lodged against Southern Seawater Desalination Plant

THE APPEALS Convenor of Western Australia, Anthony Sutton, will asses over ten appeals against the proposed Binningup desalination plant following its approval by the state’s environmental watchdog.

The Water Corporation's proposed Southern Seawater Desalination Plant is a 100GL reverse osmosis facility intended to supply Perth.

The company is planning to build a pilot plant to allow the two firms vying for the contact to build models at the beach.

The WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) recommended the Government approve it two weeks ago.

Sutton will visit Binningup on 30 October to asses the site and meet the appellants.
