MICROPRECISION Electronics has released a process control switch which can be used to detect industrial refrigerants and lubricants.

The MP300 series is fitted with a floating polypropylene ball mounted on a stainless steel level actuator. The company says this design can accurately determine when a specified liquid level is reached.

When the switch is activated, it will either trigger a signal as an input for a programmable logic controller (PLC) or directly toggle the power on and off.

The polypropylene ball has a five centimetre diameter and works at temperatures up to 99 degrees Celsius. According to the manufacturer, it is also resistant to many chemicals, allowing it to be used with liquids such as oil and coolant.

The external switches have a sealed, IP-67 rated structure and can operate in temperatures up to 204 degrees Celsius, or 93 degrees, depending on the model.
